GSP August 2024 ratings

Wow at the Lake Hitting #2!!!!!

Other than that August ratings pretty much mirrored July’s ratings for the most part.

B93.7 did drop a full point and ended up nearly tied with the Planet. Yikes!

Interesting that WYRD is sliding down as the election gets closer. I think people are getting tired of all the crazy right-wing politics. That being said, they're probably making money hand over fist.

I'm betting B is down because CHR is getting tiring. I know I sound like an old guy, but there's not much great new music coming out. So many CHRs across the country are slipping in more gold-bases songs. I'm not sure what WFBC is actually doing these days, but that could be the issue. Plus, younger people, the demos for CHR, probably don't listen to the radio much. More streaming services. I'd love to see the day part rating breakdown. Another guess is that Hawk and Tom, as tiring as they might be after all these years, are what's actually propping the station up.

Interesting to see Hot 98.1, which has a younger demo than WFBC, well ahead and hanging on to some of their bounce back last month.

WYRD is still outperforming a lot of talk stations in the southeast. As irritating as they can be, they’re still doing quite well.

I think we are seeing WMYI’s full clean up from the market not having an AC or classic hits station, even though it’s not very similar to an AC with a lot of the harder rock tracks in their playlist. It’s incredibly rare for a market to have an adult hits station and not an AC, or hell, no AC period. The Lake lived in the 4-5 range or so before Magic went away.

Wonder how much lower 106.3 will go?

@101tm

Didn’t know if you saw this article but Tara is taking full credit for WYRD’s ratings lately. Of course she would with that giant ego:

Knew it! She would take credit for WGTK’s flip from talk which had nothing to do with 98.9. Salem has had to sell many more stations since that divesture.

Also, WORD was top 3 and #1 several times on 106.3. With the events going on right now, nobody outside of a handful of SC counties is listening to 98.9. Anyone in NC is listening to 99.9 or 570.

I found it funny that with all of the promotion 98.9 does for covering NC, they didn’t, to my knowledge, break away once from their weekend infomercials and repeats for any important updates. And Tara was railing about the election this morning…

$$ beats everything at WORD

Failla does his show live from noon to 3 p.m. ET. So for WPHT to air it from 7 to 10 p.m. is a sizable delay.

The Fox News schedule of talk hosts is made up of four shows:
--Brian Kilmeade ... 9 a.m. to noon
--Will Cain ... noon to 1 p.m.
--Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla ... noon to 3 p.m.
--Guy Benson ... 3 to 6 p.m. (not Chad Benson, who does his show 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a different network)

Her and Lee were basically forced to cover the storm on Friday although she managed to make some tacky political jokes in between (of course she would!) and yesterday was whining about no power at her house which somehow quickly turned into an anti-Harris & Walz and anti-solar power rant (of course she would 🤣)

You know, I feel a tiny bit bad for the rest of the l station to work with a toxic individual like that. 🤣

I can't imagine much of the staff actually speaks to her. And I'd also beat, she doesn't care.

Given that Salem's News Talk is gone, I think if I were iHeart, I'd give up on that crappy Fox Sports on 104.9 and flip it to all the iHeart/Premiere syndicated right wing talk stuff. I'd bet they'd get better ratings with Hanity than with sports.

FYI, Radio Locator shows the station is temporarily off the air. Is this from the storm? Or maybe something else? (I don't have access to a radio right now to check.)

104.9 has been on the air, it’s just gone off the air a couple of times due to the hurricane (although nothing like 93.3, 101.1, etc)

11.10/99.3-WBT has been providing storm coverage from Western NC. I would say WYFF-4 and WSOC-TV Channel 9 from Charlotte have had the edge on TV reports due to enhanced chopper coverage. And both having reports from Asheville and Western NC. And probably 13-WLOS with the most Asheville focused coverage.
