New Hampshire Goodbye, Kool Oldies in Upper Valley

The '60s/'70s simulcast on 106.7 Lebanon, 106,5 Keene and 96.3 Walpole is no more, as of 2:30 this afternoon. Female-targeted AC The Penguin has moved from 97.5 to 106.7, not sure what's on the other frequencies. 97.5 seems to be playing some sort of rock. I need to listen further to determine the exact format. I sent an IM to Great Eastern, and they confirmed that the oldies were gone for good. The format couldn't be sold to advertisers any longer.

All three of the Kool signals are now Penguin. Have not been able to get verification on 1400/97.5. Great Eastern hasn't answered inquiries either.

97.5 is still Penguin, loud and clear here in Hartland, VT. Penguin is also on 101.7 on a translator in Claremont, NH. Not sure about 1400, doesn't come in here in the house, but if Penguin is on 97.5, it must be on 1400, right?

If I can receive 1400 in the car away from all the noise, that means I'll have six signals in reception range all carrying the same music programming. The only one I can't get is the Keene translator that used to carry Kool. Penguin is a well-executed format, but seven transmitters within 30 or so miles is a bit of overkill, even with the challenging terrain for FM. I wonder if Great Eastern will eventually flip a couple of those signals, maybe to a classic country format to better cover the White River Junction area and points north and west better than WCNL's 94.7 translator in Claremont does.

This conflicts what you said in the original post when you said 97.5 was Rock now. If it is still Penguin, it is not being identified in the TOH legal ID while the new signals are...

Yes, I was mistaken in the original post. I must have tuned to 97.5 after the song I heard last on 106.7 had ended, thus hearing a different song that was "rockier" and I mistook for another format. Sorry about that. It is Penguin, and even has song info in the display, unlike 106.7 which only has "www.thepenguinradio.com."

1400-AM was static for four days in a row when I was up in Lebanon, N.H. last week. Rumor is the land that the 1400 towers are on are for sale.
Unless 92-3 WGXL flips to CHR, 92-3 and 97-5 seem to be cannibalizing each other throughout the Upper Valley.
The Penguin on 97.5 and 106.7 doesn't make any sense either. They are both transmitting from the same location.
