SOL RADIO

Same was happening with LA MEJOR on 102.5 K273AL and KJFI-LP 102.5. But they had like almost a 4 second delay. By the way are these 2 on air anymore? Haven’t even tried to listen anymore.
La Mejor is still going on KJFI. I also hear the programming in The Woodlands area, but am not sure which signal I’m receiving. I’m able to hear LM when traveling around the northern and western areas of the market. Inside the Loop it’s KMAZ. Haven’t checked in the south part of the market since the recent move of Radio Zindagi from 102.5 to 103.3.

Yes, they are on both translators but are using the HD to be able to say they cover the full market. I use to work with the guy leading this project and well i would give them a few months before it goes away especially after SBS launches next month. The legal Id for Pasadena should mention Pasadena as the city of license but it doe not. It sounds a lot like 104.5

The entry of SBS into the market with KROI, coupled with the strong likelihood of 97.5 transitioning to a Spanish format, likely signals the decline of "la grande" 104.5 and potentially the remnants of Sol 101.7 FM and any remaining assets may they are trying to maintain, such as "La Mejor 102.5." Daniel Melendez has been hired and termination from "La Grande 104.5 FM" on 2 occasions within the past year. Chayanne Ortuño, a recognized figure within the Univision Dallas market, was unable to rejuvenate the station. Consider the challenges they currently face now imagine the scenario with two dominant forces in the market. ⏰️ 🕑 🕙 The clock is ticking...

Probably back to religion on 101.7, 102.5, and 104.5. The signals are inadequate for what might be considered general market English language formats, though I would love to see some different and innovative efforts.

Any further rumblings about a Spanish language format for 97.5? Pretty much the only option given the signal coverage, unless a national religious operator really wants to enter the market, or expand current coverage.

It is my understanding that Mexican Regional is the format everyone aims to adopt, however, I believe Gow Media is not planning to make this transition, as it is the new ownership that will ultimately make the decisions. It seems likely, though not certain, that negotiations are underway to acquire the stations from Gow Media. It appears that KROI, KFNC, KGOW, and K223DH/K223CW are all in a competitive race to the finish line. Will have some fun watching from the side line.

I believe that 104.5, 102.5, and 101.7 FM would serve as valuable additions to any general market format, including those like KTRH, KPRC,KILT Am or even a KISS FM format. When iHeartRadio operated the format, it performed successfully. However, retaining them in Spanish to counteract the strong FM signals may not be the most prudent decision. Presently, they face challenges due to years of poor management and a complete lack of credibility. One can only imagine how detrimental this will be once new competitors enter the market.

As I said before SOLRADIO format is pretty good. Reminds me of the old ESTEREO LATINO format. Don’t really care about the brand. LA MEJOR branding with the current SOL RADIO format would be better in my taste. But I’m just a listener, who am I? 😂

i agree with a few things but, interestingly, you don't mention 105.3 i mean at some point they subscribed to the numbers and never did very well and having my friend Piolin at night makes programming confusing . going from a J Balvin to Piolin sounds strange. But I agree 104.5 and 101.7 probably won't survive after SBS comes to the market in a few weeks.

el sol sounds nothing like estero Latino . KLTN was always very focused on Monterrey not tierra caliente or Michoacan.

It's interesting how you hold a grudge against those at Power 105.3 FM. If SBS were to adopt a tropical format with KRO1, Power 105.3 FM would be the first to be impacted and the discussion would shift significantly. Although I am not an authority in programming, it is my understanding that Piolin is a prominent figure within the Spanish community, much like Ryan Seacrest once was in his sphere. I believe Piolin is currently broadcast on Power 105.3 FM, where it is tailored to align with the local music programming.

No sir we are speaking programming not personal. I think (David e Would probably agree) that Piolin is no longer a prominent figure in any market. I have not seen his numbers recently, but I don't think he does very well in Dallas either i worked with him back when we had him on 93.3 and after he did his whole amnesty immigration reform tour, and nothing happened many people no longer wanted to work with him. Again, we are talking about general programming here.

Sir, I must emphasize that life encompasses more than just numbers. Funny your are seeking help from David. Regardless of numerical data or ratings, I assure you that for most small, locally owned businesses selling directly to independent shops, it is much easier to market "Piolin" rather than promoting an unknown local talent. Ultimately, for a small company that does not depend on ratings, a high-profile brand name like Piolin is more logical.

Piolín has not been a ratings factor for well over a decade. He became obsessed with his "political power" around the time of the first Obama campaign. Much of his push was for undocumented immigrants, and (irrespective of the validity of his claims) illegal persons do not carry PPMs and don't influence ratings. And a huge percentage of legal Hispanic immigrants oppose unfettered immigration.

So, in some aspects, politics killed him. In part, it was because he stopped being fun and funny and was suddenly a political commentator. You could not make Rick Dees into Rush Limbaugh, and listeners did not expect or want politics from Piolín.

Sure, he gets some listening now. But remember that XM put him on his own channel and it totally failed and the show was cancelled after spending tens of millions on him, his team and very expensive Stern-like studios.

Total agreement. See my prior post on my reasoning.
