I'm genuinely freaked out and praying for all of you in Tampa. This could be the storm that forever changes your metro area. Just like what happened in NC with Helene. 10-15 foot storm surge expected and working its way back to a CAT 5 after an eyewall replacement cycle. Yesterday out in the Gulf it was 180mph and under 900mB...the last storm to do that if I recall was Wilma. Insanely strong storm.
*HEED ALL EVACUATION ORDERS AND GET OUT OF DODGE* Zone A and B were issued yesterday at 2:30. Find a shelter if you don't have family in another area. DO NOT RIDE THIS OUT!!
WFLA 970 is already on Operation Stormwatch. They did a fantastic job informing the public about Hurricane Ian in 2022 and I know they will be ramping up for this one too. The music stations are still doing normal programming, but I doubt that will be the case tomorrow...and I expect many stations to be knocked off the air or worse, even with backups.
I pray this storm weakens big-time before landfall...the very warm Gulf water isn't helping however.
