Why not, they have four basketball teams (Knicks, Nets, Globetrotters and Liberty)I still can’t get over the NYC market having 3 NHL teams to begin with
Globetrotters? Why not, they have four basketball teams (Knicks, Nets, Globetrotters and Liberty)
You don't know the Harlem Globetrotters?Globetrotters?
I know who they are, but you can't call them a NBA team like the Knicks or Nets. You don't know the Harlem Globetrotters?
I didn't.I know who they are, but you can't call them a NBA team like the Knicks or Nets.
They were founded in NY that's about it.Nor can you call them a New York team. It's like saying the Savannah Bananas are Savannah's local semi-pro baseball team.
How are they not a NY team if they're based in Harlem?Nor can you call them a New York team.
They're not "based in Harlem". That's their legacy name. They're an entertainment troupe, sort of like Second City or the Groundlings, except they use basketball as their hook. The shtick is playing the same "captive" team and always winning with fancy, well-practiced moves. There's no actual sport in their performances. (And by sport, I mean playing against another team that's also motivated to win, and not being aware beforehand what strategy or tactics their opponents might employ to try winning. The Globetrotters have none of that. The intent is entertainment via comedy.)How are they not a NY team if they're based in Harlem?
They're basically to basketball what WWE is to Olympic wrestling. They're not "based in Harlem". That's their legacy name.
