Beautiful Music from Canada

Just came across this streaming station today while looking for a totally different genre. Abacus.fm out of Vancouver used to have 30 or so different formats but are down to just two - Smooth Jazz and Beautiful Music. Listening for an hour or so now. Zero vocals and haven't heard a single commercial or station ID. I enjoy WEMP from time to time but the switch back and forth from instrumentals to Top 40 hits is sometimes jarring. This might be one you want to check out.

This is a nice station!

I like the selection mostly (on now is a stereo-fied version of Glen Miller's Moonlight Serenade; the regular mono version would suffice), but some of the segues are kind of off (a new song will begin to play a good second or two before the last one is finished).

It's just not the same without local (professional) input from radio announcers.
I wish Toronto Ontario could have a nice quiet radio station.
I really miss Oshawa's CKQT. Now THAT was an amazing easy favourites station. (very instrumental driven)

Beautiful Music
There has been some updating done in regards to the music on WEMP. It's now mostly Soft AC with the occasional beautiful music/smooth jazz track. No more of the Standards, and pre-1970 music. Still a good listen, just not what it used to be.

I too have noticed the increase in "hit" music on WEMP. There's less of the pre-'70s music and standards but it's not totally gone. The likes of Patti Page, Doris Day and Nat "King" Cole are still being played, just less of it than before.
As long as they're playing Karen Carpenter instead of Sabrina Carpenter, I'm not going to complain. :)

My biggest complaint is the removal of the Beautiful Music. I only hear the once or twice an hour Smooth Jazz track...šŸ™
