Is anyone airchecking KCDX? In need of audio from October 11 between 2p-3p. Of course, their lame website song search function does not work.

Heard a Moody Blues (or one of their members) song driving back from Globe. It really resonated with me, and I'll be damned if I can find it. Spent the better part of yesterday combing through Spotify and You Tube. No dice.

That won't work. The station owner is very reclusive and has been run on automation for well over 20 years. If he (or his son) doesn't update the website anymore, they probably don't really archive the playlist wherever the automation is located these days (I'm thinking it's at his Sierra Vista station because someone's inserting political ads into the mix).
 
No, Ted is running political spots (0:60 per hour max) on all of his stations, including Tucson and Tubac.

Edit: Ted also has some things in his playlists that are unique and obscure. You may have run across one of those selections.

Could it be something from one of Justin Hayward's solo albums?

I don't know if it's fair to call Ted "reclusive" I've bought equipment from him on eBay, and for many years, we used the same FCC law firm. But hey, who can blame him?
 
This appears to be linked to a station that I've been frantically searching for a stream to be able to listen down in Phoenix:
95.5 & 98.9 KZXK - KZXK (says no stream, nor does the redirect to KCDX directly.

I was amazed at the station 98.9 KZXK (Doney Park & Flagstaff OTA FM broadcast only it seems). Fantastic station if you can get it though.

I mean, there *could* be unlisted SDR's that monitor FM broadcast, but I've never seen any that are publicly listed...


It's been well over a year since the stream on the KCDX web pages died. Not sure there's anyone that cares whether or not it's functioning.

I remember that's how Mr. Tucker described himself in a Phoenix New Times profile of the station 21 years ago. The station's signal and sound quality has deteriorated since then, and basically, all his properties have the proverbial "For Sale" sign on them (I don't think he's sold a signal since what was 95.1 KFMR back in 2004 - correct me if I'm wrong). I'm guessing the passion he had for KCDX (and his stations which play mostly uninterrupted classic rock) is not as it once was, given the lack of updates to the station's website.
 
Nice, but again, didn't think anybody has one of those publically accessible on the Internet. In particular, in Coconino county.

Maybe in a few years they will, since it was just released. Or you could post on the Arizona section of this board or other radio boards to see if anyone around there would be willing to buy one and set it up on an old computer as a favor to you.

Again, another one of the several stations the owner has out there in the ether.

KWCX, KKYZ, KRDX, KTBX...and probably others out there. Some use the 'standard' KCDX feed, others (like KRDX) use a bit different feed.

I remember that New Times article with the story featured on the cover. IIRC, Ted said it was his personal playlist of music that he liked, and put it on KCDX so he could listen to it while driving around.

It's amazing that Ted has been running KCDX like this for 22 years now.

KFMR 97.3 (from the same site as KCDX) is completely the same music as KCDX, but without the stingers. It's audio also seems louder than KCDX's, but unfortunately, the KBSZ translator overpowers it basically in most places.

ted's done that before, he has 3 stations in casper, wy with different formats but at one time they were all running the same ting
