Post your latest DX

I have never heard KXBX Lakeport on 1270. I should try around sunrise on a Friday or Saturday when I am not working.
I have heard the 1710 part 15'er from Half Moon Bay CA, 'KHMB', that puts out about a watt or so ERP. Five or six 100mw transmitters that work together.

from how far away? this must be groundwave, correct?
Well, @crainbebo 's profile seems to suggest that he or she is in Cascade, Idaho, so that signal has traveled a considerable distance!

Since we're on this topic, has anyone managed to DX Radio Sausalito? They are a part 15 station which is similar in principle, in that they have about six transmitters working in unison to cover the entire city (six is the maximum number of transmitters legally allowed, if I'm not mistaken). The difference is that they are primarily on 1610, which is a more cluttered frequency (they also have a single repeater on 1710 located a few miles north in San Rafael).

As far as im aware, there isnt a limit on the number of transmitters..... for part 15, the limit on AM is power.. 100 mw.. on FM its field strength.... 250 millivolts at 3 meters

that’s correct. 100 mW only travels a few miles line of sight at most with enough signal strength to be intelligible. the ionosphere is something like 50-600 miles in height from the earth’s surface, so the 100 mW signal won’t even reach the ionosphere to bounce back!
I look at some of the AM (MW) DX reports in the National Radio Club bulletins from the 30's and 40's at NRC-DX-NEWS: Bulletin of the National Radio Club and see just a few hundred watts crossing the Pacific and making it well inland as well.

My best was 50 watt AFRTS at Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico: 50 watts into a 50 foot tower heard clearly in Cleveland, Ohio in the early 60's on 780 when WBBM was off for Sunday night maintenance. Next best were 250 watt KIKI-830 in Honolulu and 500 watt WITA-1140 in San Juan and 250 watt KTIP-1450 in Porterville, CA.

I also had a lot of 200-500 watt Central American stations that used long-wire antennas or very short verticals.

"KHMB" was heard when I lived in Ellensburg, WA in 2021. I moved to Idaho in August. Previously in Yakima WA.

Keep trying, man. If I can hear them several times a year, living in the hole of a valley I live in near Seattle, and using a crate loop and medium-good DX equipment (PR-D4W, RF-B45, 200629 with the loop), KXBX should be within your reach. It's just when condx are good to California, though, and the music they play is a little more classic rock oriented than KAJO. KBZZ, of course, is more rock (because they're classic rock), but between the music differences and KBZZ's IDing a bit more, you should be able to at least put them in your log as a tentative.

I thought KPOW Powell WY aired some Fox Sports programming on weekends and nights.

During the wee hours of Nov. 1, I logged a new country on AM - Nicaragua. The station was 10 kW "La Nueva Radio Ya" from Managua.

At 2:37 a.m. CDT on my Digitech AR1780 and Terk Advantage loop (aimed N-NW), I heard a weak signal among the mess on 600 kHz with a song by Los Temerarios, followed by SS DJ talk. I thought it was a Mexican station, but the streams of XEMN, XEBB, and XEHW weren't matching. I then thought it might be XEOCH in Ocincogo, but I couldn't find any working streams for that station.

The signal continued weakly in/out with more SS soft pop (songs by Rudy La Scala, Rocío Dúrcal, etc.), and I eventually heard some "La Nueva Radio Ya" IDs. Around 3:50 CDT the signal got stronger for a while, and I heard promo for a Los Bukis concert in Nicaragua. After about 20 minutes, the station faded for good.

The distance from my home is 1,453 miles.

That's a great catch. 600 is a busy frequency around here.

Curious, are you using Shazam to identify the music (or are you an expert in SS soft pop)?

Hello all. Mike in Destin, FL here. New member. 10/30 heard 810 Khz KLVZ Denver, CO.
Good copy. 430 watts. Oldies with a mix of adult standards. Sent them an email, and was pleased to get a reply thanking me for listening. They told me I could stream them, but I didn't tell them it's more fun listening to AM! Also heard WSJC Magee, MS religious format good copy. 500 watts. Usually I get WCKA Jacksonville, AL country 500 watts. Haven't heard them in awhile. Receiver was Zenith Royal 755M.

In late August I went to a resort town in Wildwood, NJ I'm fond of. What's amazing is how good the dx is, even from my hotel room! WWL 870 comes in surprisingly well, so well I thought they were WCBS 880, till I heard the usual talk about LSU football.
930 CKNS country Ottawa, Ontario heard with good copy, power level unknown. Couldn't find any information on them using Wikipedia, only the former station that existed. Interesting thing about the radio used. It's a Panasonic R-1027, very sensitive for a pocket portable. When I found how well it performs, I bought a few more. Unfortunately none were as sensitive as the first one I bought. I have recapped and aligned all of them. I chalk it up to transistors with more gain, or I.F. coils in better shape, well probably both. They were made in about 1975.
