LPFM Spacing in the NCE Reserved Band

Shortly after the Former Earth FM (🌎FM) signed off the air in 2023, an LP station nearby in Greenville asked EMF to use the WRTH Callsign for their LP station.

EMF agreed to allow the WRTH callsign to transfer, which was approved. EMF / Air1 then applied to change the 103.3 callsign as well, becoming WLTS, as like a counterpart callsign to sister station 95.5 WLTE.

After Approval, The WRTH calls were allowed to transfer to the LP station (KOOL FM) in Greenville, thus keeping the WRTH callsign alive & active with the Classic Hits format, as inspired by the Former Earth FM (🌎FM), (becoming WRTH-LP, which was previously WZWK-LP) and they also have a translator (107.7 W299BO) in the area as well.

Yea, signal from WXRY LP doesn't really do so well beyond Downtown, lucky to reach a few miles, weak into Irmo & NW shopping zones (Harbison / Piney Grove / Columbiana).

WXRY recently said they added 2 additional LP signals in the area to expand the WXRY coverage beyond Downtown Columbia (99.1 WXNW-LP added for NW areas, such as Irmo & Chopin. Also, 98.1 WXNE-LP added for NE areas, such as Dentsville & Elgin.)

However, I have yet to see decent improvements from those added signals, which barely reach maybe a mile or so, and have lots of interference, barely reaching anything not already covered by the main WXRY signal, perhaps not fully functional yet, and not really a big improvement so far (from my observations).

They say those added sites were added via agreement with the Richland Library, but not sure of any details or how this is actually setup, and the audio quality wasn't good either.

I'm assuming the WXNE-LP tower is at the Richland Library across from Sandhills Mall. They've got some kind of tower near there.

It is - but you never have to assume on any of those questions. Just look up the station in question on @Michi's FCCData.org and you'll see a "View Google Map" button on the station listing that will take you right to a map showing you where any station's transmitter is located.

WXNE & WXNW both list their sites from a Richland Library location (Ballentine & Sandhills).

However I had trouble hearing WXNE at all on I-20, no signal found near I-77 / I-20 and heading east from there. Coverage maps indicate at least a fair signal should be expected around there.

Same for trying to Hear 99.1 WXNW while on I-26. Signal is weak at best, even at the Ballentine Liberty exit & while passing within a mile of the Library itself, the 99.1 signal didn't at all reach Irmo or Chapin, and even so the audio quality was terrible, it was better to Stream on TuneIn or listen on 99.3, where I had no WBT interference until at least a few miles into Newberry County, beyond Chapin.

I live near the Sandhills location and I am able to get the station. I am so close that it would be pretty pathetic if I couldn't.
