WHUD saying all Christmas all the time & Nothing but Christmas music for the last 30 minutes.Anyone else surprised ?
Thanks sooo much for all this info I appreciate it. Happy HolidaysI haven’t to WHUD yet, and guess what? WHUD is the first station to go all-Christmas as of 5PM on Halloween last night. The last two songs before the switch was “Monster Mash” by Bobby Boris Pickett, and “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker Jr. was the last song played on the normal format. The first song ever played on WHUD after it went to all-Christmas is “The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” by Andy Williams.
Over in Chicago, WLIT’s “Lite-FM” at 93.9 went all-Christmas as of 4PM in the eastern time zone and 3PM in the central time zone as of right now, and WLIT’s “Lite-FM” at 93.9 is the next station to go all-Christmas. More stations will go all-Christmas like WKXP’s “Lite-FM” at 94.3, WRNQ’s “Q92” at 92.1, WLTW’s “Lite-FM” on 106.7, and WTRY’s 98.3 TRY will all going all-Christmas by mid-November.
WGNY’s ”Oldies 98.9” will be the last one to go all-Christmas for 2 days, From Christmas Eve on December 24th at 12PM right up until 12AM Christmas Day on December 25th which is 48 hours of Christmas music.
We’ll give you an update on the all-Christmas format flips if it’s available, we’ll keep you posted.

I agree with you 100%. I can't listen to all Christmas music until it is close to the holiday. I expected the sponsors to like it hoping it will put shoppers in a buying mood. What I didn't expect is that the stations that flip to all Christmas get a nice bump in the ratings. Since the Poughkeepsie market rating period is for 3 months the results might not be as dramatic in the beauty contest ratings we see. WHUD is first this year but you can bet WRNQ and WKXP won't be far behind. I will avoid listening to the stations until Christmas week.Is going all Christmas all the time beneficial beyond the cooler talk on sites like this? I have to believe that the fatigue of hearing the same (terrible) music over and over again has to be an issue in offices and places where the radio is untouched for hours upon hours. Yes, I know advertisers seem to like it, and I know stations which do it see a bit of a bump, but I don't see how it doesn't cause listener fatigue. How long can you listen to that stuff on November 4, before it becomes an annoyance?
