Tara claimed sole responsibility a couple months back for WYRD’s gains, will she also do the same for this substantial plunge? @101tm 🤣

Poor X98.5 hurting bad lately. Also looks like no bounce for WFBC amidst their promotion.

X98.5 is, unfortunately, poorly programmed these days. Summit wants to push new music on almost all of their formats, and they play way too many unfamiliar songs and are spinning their powers at like 110x/week. On an alternative station!

Tara will probably create a conspiracy for 98.9’s drop. “Folks, I’m telling you, someone is tampering with the transmitter!”

This is obviously not a sports talk market. I’d be interested to see how 105.5 The Roar performs compared to 97.1/97.7 and 104.9. Fox Sports on 104.9 needs to go - I believe that signal hit a record low.

iHeart has 3 of the top 5 stations which is impressive. The Lake has become a big contender.

The Audacy cluster right now is looking like the sick man of Greenville with this round. Sure Rock 101 is still up there, but with WYRD down significantly, both B93 and the Planet just flailing in the wind and WSPA long gone to round this out it looks definitely weaker that it has been in years past.

@101tm It’s funny I knew WVOC a couple weeks ago Gary made a passing reference to Soros and Audacy deal getting approved in the midst of having a segment about non-Helene coverage (WVOC did a great job of that btw) I don’t think Tara has said one mention of it. She’d be wise not too 🤣

After COVID, Tara couldn’t praise Audacy enough because they allowed her to spread any conspiracies or whatever she wanted “unlike other radio companies.” She must be getting paid VERY well.

This will be an interesting Christmas season to watch as IMO, there are no all-Christmas contenders other than WLFJ. Will they get a massive bump like The Fish in Atlanta does? Could iHeart pull another stunt like they did prior to launching The Lake, this time on 104.9 with all-Christmas? What is there to lose on the LOWEST RATED FM signal in the market (including translators)? I’ve understood the strategy with 104.9 in the past, but a 0.2 share is an absolute embarrassment for a C3 signal on Paris.

Charlotte’s Lake flips to all-Christmas, but I don’t see iHeart messing with the high riding WMYI right now. Plus, the Charlotte Lake’s music texture is a much better fit for all Christmas than the Greenville one.

Hate to get too political but Tara’s such a massive hypocrite…”it’s not a real marriage if a woman doesn’t take her husband’s name” Tara said about Kamala Harris while failing to mention that SHE hasn’t taken her own husband’s name and often will try to pimp out his home mortgage business lol.

LOL about Christmas…this market is over saturated already with Christmas music just let it die on the Audacy app. I forgot WLFJ has done Christmas before as well but then again I remember once flipping past WLFJ around the holidays with the song “Where’s the line to see Jesus?” blasting loud. Yeesh.

Yeah, still just hard to believe we went from having a station that couldn’t wait to go all Christmas multiple times a year to having no Christmas music on a commercial FM this year (unless we have a October radio surprise?)

Speaking of 98.9, that Common Sense Retirement Planning place must be giving them cash out the wazoo. They buy a ton of time on the weekend, they sponsor the “text line”, and all of the hosts read live ads for them. That alone is enough to make me not want to listen. Also doesn’t seem like the Mike Gallagher/Bill Frady lineup change helped any (not that I thought it would).

Sign of changing times alright lol.

Gallagher back to WYRD did surprise me a bit given the previous petty hostility towards him after his show left the station a decade ago. It’s odd they did drop Erickson in favor of giving Frady the 12-3 slot. I guess it’s local but does anyone really want to listen to a 60-something gasbag during that hour when something like Clay and Buck would work better..

I agree about Frady. He’s not as bad as Tara, but the guy isn’t cut out for talk radio. Very much a conspiracy theorist in the same vein as Tara. Gallagher is probably popular with the 65+ crowd, but I agree they should have let that ship sail.

My suspicion with them pulling Erickson is he’s too moderate (by WYRD standards) and he’s semi-anti-Trump, which isn’t going to work with their base. I thought his show seemed quite intelligent and offered a different perspective which is probably why he was dropped. Clay and Buck should have just replaced Rush, and they could have avoided the revolving door 12-3, but Audacy doesn’t really like carrying much Premiere fare it seems. They seem to want as much local as possible on their talk stations. Some get what they ask for…

Oh - hats off to Norsan Media and WSPA-FM, their new format with the 0.3 share is beating 104.9 and 97.1/97.7’s 0.2 shares!

On the subject of Christmas earlier, Audacy did not let anything this year stop them from taking Magic Upstate all Christmas.. 98.9 HD2, 93.7 HD4, 101.5 in Anderson, and 95.1 in Pickens/Clemson all flipped the switch to Christmas music this morning, as well as the web stream but people are PISSED it’s not easily available OTA and don’t like being told to use the app.

89.3 will get a bump when they flip the switch, not like it really matters for a non-commercial.

its the nameless, faceless people in that magical place known as radioland that are pissed :D
I thought maybe Facebook or someplace had people ranting.

LOL.

Actually it’s on Magic’s Facebook post where several people have commented negatively about Magic being on the app only. One commenter blamed George Soros ownership LOL.

Here’s a link to one of the posts:

Did you notice Magic changed their logo? It just shows "Magic" with the bridge. The 106.3 is (finally) gone. I saw several posts on their Facebook page with people complaining they wanted to hear Christmas music and a Spanish station was bleeding through. 😂

Personally, I think they should go back to the original Magic 98.9 sweepers/jingles and logo, just add that HD-2 onto it. Piece of cake.
