96 Rock Beats WEBN

BruceB

Banned
It has been a long time coming but WFTK 96 Rock has topped WEBN in the latest ratings.
Those of us who remember WEBN in their glory days wonder what the future is for 'EBN.
I suppose that they are still making a ton of money for i Heart so doubtful any change is coming, but it is still kind of sad to witness the decline of a once great station.

WEBN plays too many commercials. Good to see 96ROCK doing well. Great to see Active Rock command roughly 10 shares worth of listening in a large market.

Is 96ROCK doing anything differently programming wise versus, say, a year ago? Their AQH share was down in the mid 2s for a time.

I have not air checked 96Rock for a while. The last time I did, it was mostly new or recent rock and roll as apposed to WEBN which is current rock but also older rock as well. I just don't think that there are many people who like current rock and roll who want to hear Metallica or Van Halen or Led Zeppelin let alone Jimi Hendrix. All of which you may hear on WEBN and yes, there's that commercial load thing

Bingo! I'm 47, 90s to now rock listener and the groups you mentioned are instant tune-outs.

WEBN seems to have an outrageously lengthy stop set around :10 after the hour most hours, if the online music log of the station is accurate. Great way to send listeners to the exits, if true.
