FM Frequency of the Week: 102.3

This is one of the combination of signals forming Spanish Christian "Fuzion" in and around East Texas and Northwest Louisiana. KLFZ Jacksonville, 50kW at 150 meters. Fair signal. I actually pick up KHFZ (the former KFRO-FM) from near Longview much better.

Wilmington Delaware

Usually an open frequency but WNJD in Cape May NJ makes frequent appearances depending on weather conditions. It comes in stronger than WIOQ on 102.1 sometimes with a Conservative Talk format. It is a NJ station but has many commercials for Delaware businesses despite Radio-Locator showing just a weak signal along Coastal Delaware. Maybe a lot of folks use the Cape May - Lewes ferry from NJ and shop in DE. :giggle:

Denver, CO - KVOQ Greenwood Village, a suburb of Denver. It's a noncommercial AAA station, "Indie 102.3", part of Colorado Public Radio. It also has a booster in Boulder, which seems to be the AAA format capital of North America. The station originally started out as a CP in 1990 in Strasburg, just east of Denver (and where Colfax Avenue finally ends), and the city of license was moved around to the south side of the metropolitan area to be closer-in, allowing Lookout Mountain to be used as a transmitter site. I lack history in this market, so I don't know the full story. No HD. From a technical standpoint, it's one of the best-sounding FM stations I've heard.

North Iowa:
An occasionally weak KCZQ/Cresco.

Central Kansas:
A blank frequency locally, but have picked up KRNY/Kearney on occasion, even outside of tropo.

Clifton, New Jersey

I get W272DX "AM 570 and 102.3 FM The Mission" New York, NY which airs a Christian Talk and Teaching format. It is a 250-watt FM translator of 570 WMCA New York, NY that transmits from Clifton, NJ.

Retro: I used to been able to receive either WBAB Babylon, NY or a local pirate station regularly. WSUS Sussex, NJ showed up occasionally. In July 2019, W272DX signed on and wiped out everything else on the frequency.
