Christmas Music 2024

It seems like this gets discussed every year on here, so I figured I'd start a thread....

WSRS started playing Christmas music at 5 pm today.

According to the Recently Played list on their website, 'Blinding Lights' by The Weeknd was the last regular song played at 4:57 this afternoon. The first Christmas song was, yup you guessed it, "All I Want for Christmas Is You' by Mariah Carey at 5:03.

Christmas music continues tonight with Delilah.

I don't remember Boston market starting before Vet's Day. But, that doesn't mean it hasn't been done.

One year it did start just before Vets Day and just after Election Day. Used to write for Boston Radio Blog and I believe one column was called After Election Day Comes Christmas

WMJX and WODS used to do battling Christmas formats. Both are now Audacy and 106.7 is a sure bet. I think they stopped doing all-Christmas-11-months-per year on its HD 2 though.
Satellite radio will have multiple Christmas stations.
Note that Christmas, New Years, and cold weather (winter wonderland) songs will be heard but not so much Hannukah or Kwanzaa.
Steve Leveille used to spin Tom Lehrer's Hannukah in Santa Monica, though.

For a year or two WBOQ "North Shore 104.9" did all Christmas for awhile though not now, as WNKC with K Love

I listened for a bit this morning.

Sounded good.

It looks like WMJX can delay their mediocre Christmas music offerings until Nov 22nd this year.

I used to like Magic 106.7's "Magic of Christmas" offerings on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Now, they've just fallen off my Christmas radar. I'm waiting for WCSF's Christmas programming online, as well as the Oldies 103.3 tribute web site to go all Christmas on Thanksgiving morning. Who needs Magic 106.7, anyway?

That will be the third big one in the region....WHOM made the switch sometime Monday night-Tuesday morning (noted at about 9:50am).
