Bonneville used to have a really good reputation for treating their employees well, financially and respectfully. Has this changed because of a generational senior management change? More likely they're feeling the same financial pressures as the bigger consolidators and can't continue the way things have been. There appears to be no end to the holiday season cost cutting festivities. Now Bonneville has joined in. Just sad, how so much of this is happening at this time of year.

They are going to need it. For those being let go the chances of landing another job in radio seems to getting less hopeful everyday. And for many, it'll be time for a career change. Going back to school, learning new skills, and still trying to pay rent and bills while job hunting, takes time and money. The severance pay and unemployment benefits only last for so long. Not to mention the stress of an unknown future, especially if you're still raising a family. And, it's the holidays.. .The good part of working for big radio is they typically have good employee severance packages.

I get the impression you think my post was only in regards to Tom Tolbert....Tolbert is almost 60. I doubt he's going back to school or paying rent.

It wasn't.
KGO was killed by the long-time station management failing to keep the station up with the times. The GM insisted in staying with the formula that worked in the 90’s even though the mood of San Francisco had changed. It was already in an irreversible decline before Cumulus took it over. No, Cumulus doesn't. They never have. Just look at what they did to eviscerate KGO, and more importantly, *how* they did it. This is a sociopathic company.
What you say is true, but irrelevant to my point. It way the way they did it. The way they did it. Unnecessary cruelty towards talent, in a number of departments, not just the talk hosts, though they managed to actually kill Gene Burns in the way they did it. They accomplished nothing but to destroy a reputation that was built over more than 4 decades, in a way that made it near impossible to ever right the ship again. (In contrast, compare the 2005 approach at WCBS-FM to the new management team's 2007 approach to restoring that station's goodwill.)KGO was killed by the long-time station management failing to keep the station up with the times. Then who else are you referring to? You only mentioned Tom Tolbert, why did you single him out as an example, and has he discussed his financial situation with you, and told you he doesn't have a mortgage or pay rent, or have a need for severance pay?Neither was mine.

Does this apply to everyone let go by iHeart, Cumulus, Bonneville, and others? These are not people who make minimum wage or don't have other options. They're mostly all in AFTRA and are under contract.
They will receive severance packages as stipulated in their contracts, and the payments are usually based on years of service.
