Michael Wallace to CBS Radio News

Former WCBS PM Drive anchor Michael Wallace posted on his LinkedIn that has landed at CBS Radio News as a full time anchor.

Does not specify what shift, but both the weekday afternoons (vacant since Monica Rix's quiet departure in September) and weekday overnight slots do not have regular occupants.

I think overnights is a rotation of several swing shift/weekend anchors. That includes Michael Toscano, who came over to CBS after his Westwood One show "First Light" was cancelled. (Westwood One used to have two morning news magazine shows at 5 a.m. ET. It decided to only keep "America in the Morning.") And Christopher Cruise also does some overnights after coming over from Westwood One News. I also hear Matt Piper in that overnight slot sometimes.

So maybe that's where we'll hear Michael Wallace when he starts with CBS News Radio.

Other than Pieper who splits his time with some overnight TV work, they're all freelancing. Cooper Lawrence also fills in here and there.

Did Wallace indicate that he was hired as a full-time staffer? And what is behind the departure of Monica Rix?
Wallace is a great addition in any capacity but losing Rix is more than unfortunate if true.
