700 WLW news intro

I've never cared much for the WLW news intro with the creepy string section. Now, Audacy Sports is using the same exact terrible violin music for their intro.

700 WLW definitely needs a refresh. The news sounder package used 20 years ago, during Darryl Parks' tenure was much better... not as dreadful or foreboding 😂 The violins need to go.

Wasn’t their old news sounder the ABC News sounder? And didn’t WLW drop their ABC affiliation? Maybe that’s why they changed up their news sounder. That said, I’ve never been bothered by the foreboding violins of the current sounder, but now that you mention it…. 😄

It was the old ABC sounder. At one point WLW dropped ABC for Fox, but switched back to ABC, leaving Fox to WKRC. WLW also carries some Premiere/NBC features.

Yes they did. I don't remember when the switch came but it's been a few years ago.
