Joe in Waco

I’ve been listening to this station for a month or more now and up til today they’ve been playing music back to back no interruptions except for the top of the hour ID and today they finally got some imaging or jingles and they’re calling themselves Joe fm, the audio quality however leaves a lot to be desired as far as the airwaves but they do have a website JoeFM
Seems they’re trying to bring back adult hits to Waco, they’re low power like 90 watts I believe but I guess we will see what happens

Is this the new 91.9 KWFM-LP? I heard that one the other day for the first time but it was no IDs or imaging just a juke box of Rod Stewart, Barry White, Phil Collins, etc. The signal seemed unbelievable considering it is just a vertical antenna mounted to the roof of a house-like structure.

Yes that’s the one! And yeah it’s broadcasting from some house along Waco drive just a block or two east of valley mills

So after doing some research and this is just a guess but it’s possibly like a rebirth of an lpfm station from Houston that is or was on 87.9fm I don’t know if it’s still around but there was some talk about it being a pirate station when it was in Houston but now it’s here in Waco and the stream from the website “which still shows signs of being based in houston” is the actual stream of 91.9 here in Waco because the TOH Waco ID is on the stream so it’s really peculiar, eager to see what happens in the days to come.

Ryan, my company is in the process of building out this station for the Texas Mennonite Conference. The house you refer to is headquarters for dozens of churches in Texas, and sits at the top of a hill overlooking Waco and the Brazos River. It really gets out. They are still waiting on their orban processor, so sound will improve when it arrives. Here is a link to a story about the station.

The 87.9 operation in Houston was a pirate.

Friendly advice: Be aware that discussion on these forums regarding the person supposedly involved with this Waco LPFM has been shut down by the moderators in the past, due to, shall we say, questionable activities of that individual. So tread carefully.

Thank you so much for the response! I’ve been so curious about the station and I’m glad to hear of the upcoming improvements!

Experimental broadcast, as I recall he noted with the FCC.

I mean, really 🐸, what's the point of not discussing his broadcasting activities? 87.9 was suspect, certainly, but KEYH is/was a legitimate facility of which he had full programming control. Now, he's got a low power in Waco. He's never stayed "banned" and is still an active member around here, you know.

I'd certainly be interested to know how he's suddenly become associated with the Mennonites, or if this is just simply more sock puppetry.

The whole Canton thing is suspicious as well, especially claiming that the Texas Mennonite Conference is involved (which it isn’t) and that the one that shall not be named is a Bishop in the Mennonite church (he isn’t).

So now he is a bishop? Man this guy is impressive. He just won't give up.
I can think of several words starting with “B” that define him, but “bishop” ain’t one of ‘em.

We installed a new processor today. Can't say it helped the sound very much. While the signal gets out due to height, the 71 watts ERP power is insufficient to overcome background noise and cochannel interference. We recommended they switch off the stereo pilot to reduce noise. They said no. So don't expect quality sound beyond west Waco and Beverly Hills.
