WZLX Schedule

Is Carter Alan out at WZLX? Last week, he was off of the website "schedule." And yesterday, at the end of his shift, Tyler said that he'd be on the air 10 AM - 2 PM this week again.

I hope he didn't get cut. WZLX has more live and local hosts than most iHeart stations...

If he was gone, he'd be scrubbed.

Also, he's been in Boston radio for decades. He's likely accumulated a good chunk of annual vacation time, and has, like many people, elected to use it in December.
Well, he was scrubbed from last week's schedule. And nearly everyone else is scrubbed from this week's schedule, which must be a mistake. iHeart does not usually update its websites to show someone's vacation, but hopefully, that's exactly what WZLX did.

Well, they sure as (expletive) update their websites when a jock exits.

If Carter Alan left WZLX, it would be screamed from the rooftops. Trust me.

Right now, a jock named Jameson is the only one on the WZLX "Schedule" from 7-12. However, Carter, Chuck, and Kenny are still listed as jocks. Perhaps an issue over at iHeart? Or maybe they're on vacation? I'm sure if Carter Alan was shown the door, it would be all over the news.

The schedule has been updated on the website. Carter Alan is back on middays. I guess he is on a two-week vacation. Chuck Nowlin has been moved to mornings and Chris Tyler is on afternoons. I am guessing that Chuck will be doing mornings until iHeart figures out what to do with mornings on WZLX.

Carter and Chuck are like Boston's version of Pierre Robert. You're right. It would be all over the news if either were cut by iHeart.

They had Kenny Young in the morning. that seemed fine to me. It doesn't make sense to move an afternoon drive institution like Chuck Nowlin to mornings. That's just my opinion. I did listen to Tyler today and he was like listening to paint dry then I found out he's the PD. Oh wow.

"WZLX, an iHeartRadio Station."

Things have been bumpy for several iHeart stations recently. It's too bad iHeart is tampering with WZLX, a station they had left alone when they acquired it, since it was running so well.

They could've handled the whole Morning Show issue way better than they did after Kevin Carlson passed away. I suppose we shouldn't be surprised: look at how Matty had to exit KISS 108, where he'd been a mainstay, not to mention a huge moneymaker, for the station for over 40 years.

Radio isn't meant to be a job for life. Everybody gets old. Matty was 72 when he left. We all know why he left. He wasn't fired or pushed. The company would have loved for him to stay until he was 80. Same with Kevin Carlson. He wasn't fired. He died. Don't blame the company for an act of God. It's not easy replacing legends, especially now.

My guess is that Chuck will stay in mornings only until the New Year and that some sort of new Morning Show will debut in January 2025.

Yeah, I can read, too, I KNOW Kevin Carlson passed away.

But 'ZLX did not have to jettison the rest of that Morning Show crew. I agree wholeheartedly with MassMusicMan: get Pete and Heather back. Heck, maybe add Michael Coleman to the mix.

I know they come from a smaller market and much of their show is based around spoofing local politicians and such, but I wonder if iHeart has given any thought to simulcasting Paul & Al from Providence on 'ZLX. They have been on WHJY for nearly 35 years, they have classic rock credibility, and they are adaptable. They also are signed long term with iHeart. Then again, it would be highly unorthodox to simulcast a smaller market show on a large market signal.

Do they have enough national content to make it work?

Would they want more money if they were syndicated?
I would bet that there's already language covering that in their contract with iHeart. I am guessing that they are already well-compensated, given their 35 years at the same station. I do not think they have ever been syndicated.

35 years?! Wow, and God bless them with many more years!

But I think their many assets - longevity, "classic rock credibility", adaptability - might be strained were they to have to adapt to a larger market and minimize/eliminate their Providence-centric content. While growth and expansion CAN be good, these days it can backfire and destroy what was once an excellent product.

No, I think they should stay the course at 'HJY, and, as MassMusicMan suggests, bring back Pete and Heather to 'ZLX.

Just my $0.02-worth.
