Colorado Springs/Pueblo KSTY & KRLN

I understand the owners had been trying to sell the duo for some time. There were no takers, so now this.

Years ago KRLN, the AM side, would pluck local high school kids with potential and put them on the air, with decent success. That practice launched more than a few careers where air talent made respectable names for themselves as they moved on to some of the largest markets in the country. Local management interested in talent development is a rare commodity these days.

A truly sad situation for the community, losing two broadcast voices like this. They need a White Knight, pronto.

A possible resurrection of now dark KSTY(FM) at least may be in the offing, and at quite a bargain price! See Former Station Manager To Acquire Silent Colorado FM -- The KSTY signal is formidable especially into Pueblo. In Colorado Springs, not so much except for areas in the south and southeast portions of the metro. Former owner Royal Gorge Broadcasting is apparently hanging on to the KRLN/KSTY building, equipment, the KRLN tower site (Different from KSTY's) and intellectual property, so things might not quite sound the same if/and when this is consummated. Worth keeping eyes on.
