KSDK to leave downtown St. Louis
KSDK (Channel 5) also intends to sell the downtown building in which it has operated for more than 40 years.
I don't think there's a lot of places they can go, though. The city of St. Louis (as contrasted to the county, which is a separate entity) is rather small compared to the rest of the metro.![]()

don't they own the building? there was already lots of empty office space in Downtown STL pre CovidNot shocking to hear but at the same time stations like this has to respond to the changing landscape of TV such as viewers watching their content via TV apps. Also Tegna was facing the end of 2024 cuts. I'm not sure how expensive the office rent is in Downtown Saint Louis specifically. But the article mentioned about safety concerns with News Staff in the neighborhood as also a factor to leave their current offices along with the company wide cuts prior to this. It will be interesting to see where their new offices are going to be in the area.
I'm pretty sure they owned the building. KSD radio and TV never was co-located with the Post-Dispatch back in the days of common Pulitzer ownership.don't they own the building? there was already lots of empty office space in Downtown STL pre Covid
The OP has reposted it to the Missouri radio board. Yeah, it probably should have gone into Missouri TV but the OP may not have realized there was such a forum. I'm not going to lose sleep over it. In any event, I don't imagine the topic will get much discussion; you'd have to know St. Louis TV history to understand the significance. Why is this in the NATIONAL TV board when Missouri has its own board??
