Frito and Katy take KILT-FM Mornings!

After announcing their departure from KCYY "Y-100" San Antonio just yesterday, today we learn that Frito and Katy will assume AM Drive at "The Bull" this Friday.

Never heard of them 😂. Sorry.

But they live here in Houston? Or are moving to Houston? Or did they always live in Houston but their morning show was airing in San Antonio

That's been a pretty quick rise from market 183 (BCS was even smaller when the left) to market 6.
Yes and no. They spent about a decade at KNDE doing the morning show. Young even left radio all together for a brief period before coming back to KNDE around 2017-18ish.

I don't know that this was a matter of being discovered. I really think both were just comfortable working at Bryan Broadcasting (which is a well regarded operation) instead of working for corporate radio. I guess they both eventually realized that they could only go so far in a small market and rolled the dice.

So far it has paid off.

I’ve known Katy since she was working promotions and board opping at KKBQ. They do a great show. So proud they’re moving up to the majors, they’ve worked their tails off to get here. We need new blood in this market, not the same old shows. This makes me very happy.!

Yes when the post says bringing local talent. If they live in San Antonio they’re not local.

Most people take "local talent" to mean that the talent will live and work in the market, not that they were natives of the market. Katy, however, is indeed a Houston native. If not over the next few days, both will move to Houston.

B/CS is an easy market to get 'comfy' in. I was there 4 years. Finally left for New Orleans. Knew I had to make the jump for my career. It was the right move.

I think I have an 1990 KAGG aircheck of you somewhere on cassette from back then...

I finally dug out a few myself from those days not long ago. I then spoke with <then> KAGG GM Benny Springer, who remains one of my very best friends. I said "My God, I sounded like such a cocky D*CK!" Benny said "and we loved you for it!" :)

Agreed. This sure beats my silly conspiracy theory of former KKBQ jocks... :ROFLMAO:

Looking forward to giving them a listen.
