New local FM station in Mankato, MN

Normally I would have just updated the frequency of the week for it but all of them are locked and no newer one on the frequency

107.9

Mankato, MN now has a new FM translator on 107.9. KMSU-LP which is the sister station to Minnesota State Mankato's KMSU 89.7. Its a whole 14 watts (woo hoo!!) which covers Mankato and parts of North Mankato. Its basically KMSU-HD3 which is locally produced student shows of music. I like it because they do play a fair amount of 80s and 90s music that I know :) with no commercials other than the students saying their name and what program they produce.

It does nuke KQQL from Minneapolis which came in kinda ;) If you go a few miles North of Mankato you'll get KQQL

KMSU is a fantastic college station and their fundraising drives have great items for supporting the station. I was listening to a show this weekend called "World Beat" that was a world music show, it was really cool. It's hosted by an Aussie guy who plays different styles of Aussie music. You can listen to last weekend's show at that link. There's also Apple and Google apps for the station. Their morning show is great too.

I find this amusing! The student-produced radio station (streaming-only) at the university where I work also plays a lot of 80s through 2000s indie, pop and rock, played by 19-21 year old students. Part of me thinks, shouldn't they be playing brand new music I hate, not Pulp, the Stone Roses, the Charlatans, etc etc?

Its possible that for the past couple weeks the 80s & 90s stuff has been reruns as the kids are out of school for a month. Yesterday and today it had a lot of 2000s and newer (stuff I have no clue what it is) :D:D as the students are back on campus
