SBS is about announce that they have hired Cheque Gonzalez as the new pd for LA LEY 92.1. I'm a bit disappointed i really expected this station to bring new blood new concepts outside of the Brindis show. But Cheuque is nothing new. He used to program LA RAZA here in Houston but i can say i am far from a fan on how he works. Considering the people he has already hired let's just say this new station will sound just like la raza 98.5 back in 2004 . I was cheering for this station to win but outside of the morning ... nothing impressive.

Well as long as Raul is there and how long i worked with him on KLTN, Cheque is just an “Assistant” PD to Raul.
Hope so, cause it would be very disappointing to have SBS just come to Houston and only beat LA RAZA. No, no, no!! We need them to try harder.
that was the case with Guerra but not with Arnulfo. I don't think this will be the case. Raul does his show, and he is done he doesn't really get involved with the station. Just don't see this station working out the way i hoped with people like EL GUEY or Cheque who are more of has-beens in Houston radio.
Thats why Arnulfo was pushed out. Angel was then working the kltn music log in as Assistant PD.
Is the "Duranguense" fad making a comeback? I'm ready to welcome back all the "chuntaros" and their taco style cowboy hats if it means killing off the Edgar fad once and for all.
What is worse is that they will most likely have that Tierra Caliente hour 🙄
Well we know how it went for Angel after he decided to go support Piolin at the Verizon remote.
And he was not even Assistant PD in reality. At that time, Univision had "music specialists" who just did the music logs in MusicMaster, usually for a number of stations. They did not have any influence over programming other than running the scheduling software.
I'm going to disagree on that one David.. Angel was at the time Morning show host for KAMA and the PD for KAMA and after Raul and Arnulfo had issues and Raul stopped even going to his office (that was next to Arnulfo) Angel had to step in and was treated as the Assistant pd to Arnulfo and when they were both gone Guerra was given that title.
