I've been enjoying the airchecks on this tribute page for nearly a year now. So cool to hear what a medium-market AM sounded like with a country format in '73, and have so much documentation to go along with it.

Pictures, airchecks, recollections from former station staff... It's really neat!

I just picked up a promo 45 of Tyrone Davis' "Can I Change My Mind" from OD's top-40 days (which ended in 1970 when the station switched to a country format).

Thought I'd create a thread here to discuss this cool station and site, and possibly hear from folks who remember this station...
 
I worked at 'OD in 1970 while it was Top-40. We played a lot of "heavy" music at night. It was quite a place, using record changer
for the FM. Originally set up to house WWOD-TV which never happened.

Appears that this site is now gone... Dang. So much fun looking around there. It's been gone at least a month now. Is there a way to still be able to view it or is it just gone gone? Thankfully I downloaded the airchecks from it so I have those, but I wish I had done the same with all of the great pictures...

Seems like it is gone. Searching "wwod va" sends you to a couple of links and an exterior picture.

That was a fun place. Glad I was able to work there for a short time, and it was heartbreaking to see the building empty and vandalized.

I spoke with Rick Burnett who put the Twin Cities website together and he told me that the website got lost during a renewal. Whew...
