Nominated For IRCA Board Of Directors

Wow.....I've been nominated to run for the Board Of Directors for the International Radio Club Of America.

I'm flattered, honored and shocked. I have decided to run and submitted this campaign statement for publishing in an upcoming DX bulletin

I have 21 years of current, real world and ongoing broadcast experience which has proven handy when arranging DX tests and notifying stations when something is way out of tolerance. I have been a DXer even longer with lots of trial and error along with real world experience vs just theory. While some of us have butted heads, my desire is simply to share this hobby that I love while also making sure fair & accurate information is out there. I believe I offer a fresh perspective as a DXer well as a perspective from the business side of this hobby that few can offer.

Congrats on the nomination. I was a founding member of the IRCA over 60 years ago, and a member of the first Board of Directors. It's good to see that AM DXing is still alive.

(I had over 2,500 veries from over 80 countries from my 1958-1963 DX location in Cleveland, Ohio. Note for others: AM DXers call them "verifiications" or "veries" and not "QSLs" such as hams and SWL folks do.)

You might be interested to know... If you remove mexico and cuba, I have only one Latin American AM logged.. Peru.

I have Peru and brazil logged on SW from Alaska. and colombia/venezula.

And, despite Ecuador being on the Pacific... and having logged 6 or 7 Hawaiians, and several NZ and AU stations from Ohio, I never heard anything to the west of me. The mountains on the West side of town rising another 5,000 or so feet above my location just blocked everything.

Ive heard several mexicans (900, 1220, 1410 and 1440 in MX City) , one or two cubans and 4775, 1500 from Peru.

HI is eazy peazy here :)

One of my favorite all time catches was the 250 watt AM in Honolulu on 830. Totally readable in Ohio. Second favorite: AFRTS 780 at Ramey AFB, PR, with 50 watts into a 75 foot tower.
