Bill Martin retires after 33 years as KTVU Meteorologist

Feels like the end of an era for KTVU as well with pretty much the era where when it came to news, they were good when under Cox management until FOX took over wanting desperately to have an O&O in San Francisco as Frank Somerville & recently Julie Haener have left. KTVU Meteorologist Bill Martin to retire after 33 years
It was inevitable: most of the classic KTVU crew is approaching 70 or more. Reporters Tom Vacar and Amber Lee are still around and still doing good work but it's not the kind of job one wants to keep doing forever, I should think. Considering present-day circumstances facing all media, KTVU continues to do a pretty respectable job. Bill was the last member of the 10 pm news team to remain after Julie Haener and Mark Ibañez retired. Frank Somerville left due to his own personal problems, which were well-documented. It was a sad thing to see, but it happened.

The former ND of KTVU once told me that Fox corporate management was much less intrusive into the newsroom than Cox corporate management was.

Don't forget the one and only Dennis Richmond. Bill was also a part of that team, along with Julie and Mark, before Dennis retired.
