WNWS (Jackson, TN) Sells (again)

Well, WNWS News/Talk 101.5 FM in Jackson has been sold again. New Owner Terry Story and The Golden Media Group purchased the station January 13th, 2025. The group also owns 103.5 FM, 96.5 FM and AM 1310 WDXI. The stations are being branded as "Talk-N West TN".

Congratulations, Everyone! I hope things work out well for you.

Don't congratulate anyone just yet. The world is still waiting to see if anything is ever filed with the FCC, and who actually sold what to whom. Grace was supposedly sold a month ago but nothing has been filed. Now, WNWS has been sold to Story. So far I'm waiting to see who the actual professional broadcaster involved in this whole cluster-you-know-what winds up being. These are broadcast licenses, not Pokemon trading cards.

It may not be the greatest at times, but I'll give them credit for trying, as they're doing something like 17 hours of live programming each weekday.
It at least looks like (judging from the Radio-Locator maps) is that the only one that is really duplicating another station's coverage area is 103.5. (I'm not even counting 1310 since it is an AM station.)

Back in September, 2024, Hunt Communications, LLC, licensee of AM station WDXI 1310 AM and translator W278CL 103.5 FM in Jackson, filed an application for assignment of license. Programming at that time changed from oldies to news-talk, branded as "News Talk West Tennessee". Being a translator, they used the AM to get on FM. This was before WNWS was added to the mix. WBFG 96.5 FM in Lexington, TN flipped from ESPN radio back in 2023. Now, with WNWS, the same programming is on one AM and three FMs.

Let me guess. They probably promote the FM stations heavily, but only ever mention the AM station at the top of each hour when they run a legal ID.

Well, at midnight last night, 1310 AM and 103.5 FM flipped to Fox Sports Radio, with the full lineup. "Talk-N West TN" remains on 101.5 FM.

WKBL 1250 is on WTJK 105.3

a DXer in Ft Smith, AR logged a station on 1250 that some of us thought was WKBL based upon a mention of "K 105.3", i forwarded the clip to rob grayson who works there, confirmed it was WKBL and they are simulcasting WKBL and theres a facebook page for WKBL, promoting the new logo

I checked the WTJK 105.3 FM over-the-air signal around 11:00 this morning (Friday 5/16/25) and the programming was FOX Sports Radio.
