Matt Pinfield (KCSN) suffers debilitating stroke

Terrible news. He’d been off the air for a few weeks with no real specifics on what happened to him other than a vague medical incident, but it’s apparently so bad his daughter is looking for a conservatorship to prevent his girlfriend from spending his money. It’s been fantastic having him on the air here for the last year or so

Former MTV Host Matt Pinfield's Daughter Files for Conservatorship

I listen to Flashback on Sunday mornings and it has been guest hosted by Leslie Fram the past two weeks. This is awful to hear.

I spent years at 88.5 in the Speech Drama building, started when I was 13. While I personally resent what has become of College Radio, Matt Pinfield was fun to watch on 120 Minutes at MTV & inspired many of us. The music was so good in the Eighties, everything was better back then. Wishing the best to Matt & his family

This is terrible. Matt was uniquely qualified for KCSN. There are fewer people with his depth of knowledge and experience.

Leslie Fram worked with Matt in NYC and elsewhere. She's the perfect replacement for him on Flashback. She already works for Cumulus, so the transition should be easy. But that still leaves a hole at KCSN.

His shows on KCSN were great. Loved how he weaved in seldom played old tracks from the 60s and 70s against current material. He represented what old Free Form/AOR DJ shows used to be. Very sad to hear what's happened to Matt.

Matt always seemed to truly be one of the good guys in both the music and radio industry. I have never heard a negative word about him from anyone. I know he battled addiction and was so proud of his sobriety. I always listened to both Flashback and his New and Approved show on Sundays. I often learned something new on the 'Flashback News' segment about a song I have heard (and played during my radio days) countless times.

He was also on San Francisco's KFOG for about a year in 2016-17, when the station repositioned itself from its longtime AAA format to something more oriented to alternative.

According to Variety on January 29th, he has remained hospitalized since the date of his stroke, citing his agent. That doesn't sound like someone on a path to speedy return to work.

None of the reports on Matt seem to indicate he'll be in the kind of shape needed to return to his radio gigs. It's very sad
