Alex Parker takes afternoons at WERS

I have three friends, all with stellar Boston rock/alt resumes and none of them even got an interview. Alex was always the hire. Congratulations to her, nut why the charade? Is it required by law to pretend you're doing a job search?

I've worked places where jobs were created out of thin air for specific people and others in the building weren't even given the chance to apply. You just roll in one Monday and find out so and so has been promoted to a title that didn't exist on Friday.

I spent almost six months going back and forth with then PD Jack Casey for a position I was more than qualified for. I had the support of the staff, the interim President ,who along with Chiropractor/GM Casey I had know for almost 30 years. I was passed over for a guy who had no connection to Emerson or ERS. He didn't last long. I'll will save you all from reading my theory on why Casey didn't want me.

When I was an Emerson student you would drop a class or quit a part time job if you were lucky enough to get an ERS shift, the competition was fierce. They had no problem filling overnights or anytime on the weekends.

From what I have been told, students have no interest in working at ERS unless they receive a competitive wage. The Mass Communications Department no longer offers a concentration in radio and the College no longer subsidizes the station.

I do think the station sounds great and George Knight is perfect in the mornings.
