Deep Oldies on WDLW

A few days ago, I heard a Beatles B-side, on 1380 AM in Lorain, that was not a regular song on Top 40 radio in its day. The song was the George Harrison composition "For You Blue". This was during afternoon drive. Every once-in-a-while "Kool Kat Oldies 1380 throws in a pleasant surprise. This was one of them.

That's a great station. I wish they broadcasted with more power. Once I get into Westlake, it fades away. Night time, forget it. Power must be reduced. I can barely pick it up in eastern Lorain County.
Another great station is Zoomer radio AM740 out of Toronto. I can receive it pretty good most nights using my CCRadio.

WDLW nighttime power goes down to 57 watts. Daytime is 500 watts. They also broadcast on 98.9 [90 watts] but that signal looks like it goes about as far as the nighttime one. Zoomer radio is awesome, I have picked them up on my car radio almost nightly but for some reason they haven't been coming in very clear lately.

740 out of Toronto is a gem.

You can always listen online in a program like iTunes, web browser or phone:

I worked there in the early 70's when it was WLRO. It was fun and played mostly easy top forty. It was a daytimer with 500 watts at the time

Too much overplayed classic album rock on that station these days. I liked their more balanced music mix from a couple of years ago better.

I remember hearing the 1973 (a hit in early 1974) version of "Jim Dandy" by Black Oak Arkansas on WLRO. It's a pretty heavy rockin' remake of the LaVerne Baker 1950s hit. So, not everything was "easy".

I'm an old guy, not into streaming.
What's old? I'm almost 60. You're on the internet already with this forum, lol. No difference between OTA or streaming, except perhaps some streams aren't processed well. Listen on PC, Mac, phone/app. In my truck all I listen to is streaming. Unlimited data :)

I listen to both, but mostly AM/FM radio as I have friends who work in the business and want to support them, and radio in particular.

I'm a few years older. I assume streaming uses up data. I have 5 GB data per month on my phone. I don't have wi-fi at home.
