I'm Greg (James) Pulliam. I started in radio at age 16 at WMPA Aberdeen, MS in 1971. I moved to WCLD in Cleveland, MS for about 4 years. I did a brief stint as PD at WJPR in Greenville, before leaving to finish my BA (English, Communication & Rhetoric) at Memphis State, where I worked at PBS affiliate WKNO as camera operator, lighter, set-builder, and audio booth operator. Spent a year at KCBW-FM in Sedalia, MO, before leaving to help build KBUZ in Arkansas City, KS. I left there a year later and went back to Memphis to work at WPTY-TV 24 as on-air director and videotape engineer. After a few years away from broadcasting, I came back at KCMQ/KTGR in Columbia, MO in 1983. While there, I earned my MA/PhD in English Language & Linguistics/Composition & Rhetoric (respectively) from the U of MO, then worked as a professor at IIT in Chicago from 1993-2023, teaching Mass Media, Persuasion, Journalism, History of English Language, American Dialects and a number of other courses. I am now retired. I'm really excited to find this site and look forward to meeting new friends and maybe reconnecting with some old ones.
