650 WSRO/102.1 W271CU Licenses surrendered

No buyers for a station in wealthy MetroWest even with a translator? Terrible look for medium that still thinks it has a future.

I found this note on the WQVR website regarding AM 700 WQVD.

Does that station still have a translator attached to it? I remember hearing it on 92.3 (I think) during its days as an oldies station and, later, classic country. WCAT, WTUB, etc.

Left in the Langer estate is the WSRO tower site (historically speaking, the WKOX AM/FM site), which is poor shape, yet is assessed at nearly $1 million. That's far more than the 650 license would have ever been worth. Even if 650 were briefly returned to the air to keep the license active, it's easy to see the station ending up homeless once the asset sales are completed.

As for 102.1, have to imagine something ends up on that dial position eventually. Then again, given how the medium is trending, perhaps not.
