I’d be curious if the Kingman station makes it on the air. I’d be inclined to say so since NVPR cancelled a swath of far-flung CPs a couple months ago.

Currently, they get NPR service from a translator of KNAU on 89.3…not full/time news/talk. Don’t know if that’ll get moved if or when NVPR gets that signed on.

This is a translator for KAWC Yuma, I assume.
I have a soft spot for Arizona Western College radio. A few years back, KAWC had a translator near Drake / Prescott IIRC at 89.5 FM. They presented NPR with local Yuma information from perspective of the College, it seemed.

Hope this Quartzite translator gets on the airwaves.

If I remember correctly, the proposed 90.1 station in Quartzsite had very little power, its antenna height was lower than the average terrain in the area, and the station's expected coverage didn't get it into the larger city of Blythe, CA, some 20 miles west. For these reasons, I'm betting that that one at least will not see the light of day.

Of course, because of the actions of the current administration with regard to CPB funding, both of these allocations may now be gone to history. For the same reason, I'm also concerned about another full-power license that was expected to come on the air within the next couple of years; namely, the 90.1 FM frequency allocation currently held by the University of Arizona for the town of St. Johns. If that manages to make it on the air (it would be simulcasting KUAZ), then the towns of Springerville/Eagar will finally have an NPR outlet that could be heard on most receivers in the area.

Terminology correction, if I may.

A full-power station simulcasting another 24/7 is called a "satellite", not a "translator". It is a significant distinction in terms of licensing, ERP calculations, service contours, etc.

I haven't yet checked to see if there has been a top-of-hour ID change but it appears that KAWQ-FM may now be on the air.

I haven't checked yet to see if there is a change in the KAWC-FM top-of-hour ID, but it appears that KAWQ-FM may be finally on the air.

Well, I've just heard the 9:00am station break from KAWC-FM and yes! KAWQ-FM was id-ed as part of the top of the hour ID. While I don't live in the area (I was slistening to KAWC-FM's stream from my Phoenix location), I am now very much assured that KAWQ-FM is now on the air, and (using the terminology K.M. Richards so graciously provided in an earlier response), it is a satellite service of KAWC-FM!
 
I guess my original post got flummoxed away during my 'authorization'.

KAWQ-FM 90.1 has been on for several months now, a Full Class C-2 operation atop Cunningham Peak, South of Quartzite.

Sounds just fine in Blythe, please don't infer too much info from the CP data, we had our Consultant mod/FCC approve it to make things work.

The pattern is directional, with the null due North, ironically to protect our own 89.9 in Parker on the adjacent channel.
