WDJT CBS 58 uses the current CBS O&O designs for their newscasts

Its interesting to see a non-Paramount owned CBS affiliate use the same graphics as stations like KCAL, KPIX, WCBS, WBZ, KOVR would use for their newscasts. But then again its OK for WDJT-TV CBS 58 Milwaukee a Weigel owned station to use the O&O designs as long as they are the CBS affiliate for that TV market.

Interesting. One minor difference I notice is Boston’s WBZ repeatedly referred to WBZ news where the others just say “CBS News (city) and don’t mention the call letters aloud.

Not surprised WDJT got the network news look, it's the only full-power Big Three affiliate Weigel owns (WBND-LD is a low-power signal) out of their vast portfolio of relay transmitters for their diginet networks.

I believe Los Angeles brands as KCAL News and in the Bay Area it's KPIX News.

2nd non-CBS O&O affiliate to do this, KTVN (Reno, NV) was the first. Easier for the small TV owners to do this than the bigger TV owners, many of whom use uniform graphics that are not restricted to network affiliation.

Plus those boxey, cheesy CBSish graphics are relatively easy to copy.

Well for the Bay Area one its "CBS News Bay Area on KPIX" you're within range here. Likewise KDKA Pittsburgh, WCCO Minneapolis and WJZ Baltimore does the same thing as KPIX does like, "CBS News Pittsburgh on KDKA", "CBS News Minnesota on WCCO" and "CBS News Baltimore on WJZ"

I find it amusing that there is not always consistency to a market's heritage branding when it comes to the network O and O's in particular. They treat every market differently. Some examples are in Los Angeles, the news branded as KCAL News rather than CBS Los Angeles. KTTV is never referred to by their calls, but is "Fox 11." KCOP is now "Fox 11 Plus." IN the Bay Area, channel 2 is still referred to as "KTVU" interchangeably with "Fox 2" and still uses the longtime laser 2 circle logo. Sister KICU is now "KTVU Plus." In Phoenix, KUTP is "Fox 10 Xtra." In Seattle, they gave up heritage "Q13" on KCPQ to just go with "Fox 13." Likewise, KZJO became "Fox 13+"

I would understand if the O&Os mandated across the board to change brandings in every city so they are uniform, but it appears to be case-by-case, where one city keeps some semblance of heritage branding while another city loses it.
