Actress With The Title "Miss" In Their Credit

I can only recall two examples of TV show credits where the actresses are given the title "Miss" before their names. On "The Big Valley" it's Miss Barbara Stanwyck and on "The Waltons," it was "Miss Michael Learned"

Now I assume they credited Michael Learned as "Miss," due to the somewhat confusing first name, but does anyone know why Miss Stanwyck got that credited like that.

And has any other TV actresses been credited with the title "Miss," and no "Miss Piggy" doesn't count.

I would say that in the case of the former, it was a different time and Barbara Stanwyck, being an "A" movie actress, was given the distinction, as a kind of royal title, to separate her from others, on the still fledgling medium.

Female personalities were introduced as or addressed as "miss," even when everyone knew they were married. Example: Miss Arlene Francis on "What's My Line," even where her husband was sitting right next to her.

FYI: The only actors billed or credited with the honorific were: Mr. George Arliss and Mr. Paul Muni.
