Iowa What is going on with the KDLS-FM sale?

The sale to Trinity closed back in April. As of today its still Spanish programming. Meanwhile the 105.3 KIHC in Chariton sale closed back in July and its already switched over to Iowa Catholic Radio.

I noticed KDLS-FM has a minor Mod to adjust the signal pattern from directional to non-directional keeping the same power and height. Certainly this cant be the only restricting issue if it hasn't happened yet? The main signal covers the bulk of the metro just fine.

Or, is Trinity keeping this to do something else with it? I noticed that KIHC has already been transferred to St. Gabriel.

Just curious if anyone knows.

I got my answer to this. They intend to eventually sign on to KDLS-FM. When that is remains unknown.
It's now May and still hablando español. I don't think the change to ND is in effect either: in downtown Des Moines, it's not triggering the "easy tuning mode" on my Tecsun which is usually pretty sensitive. I can tune it manually easily, though.

Theres been no filing of a license to cover, so no... its not been built yet

When I got my response back in December it was a very vague, general response that stated they intend to switch over to Catholic programming eventually.

It's interesting that its been a whole year now since the initial sale.

And just curious, Trinity is doing this to transfer to Iowa Catholic Radio? Or is there something else afoot here?
Trinity Communications IS Iowa Catholic Radio.

Looking at the public file, there is an LMA that was signed in March 2020 through February 2023 with the lessee able to extend for two additional two year terms. That would take it through February 2027 if both were exercised.

A call-sign change request was filed today for KDLS-FM, to change to KIHS, effective April 1, 2025.

Yep! Even more ka-ching! :)
Hey, you can have a nice dinner in downtown Des Moines...I know of a couple of good places....
The KWKY call letters will go away in the process. 1150 started with KWDM in 1948, then KWKY in 1959.
Funny thing is, I've seen no evidence that the 1948 version of KWDM tried to program for West Des Moines, as those call letters might have suggested. Those calls are still around, on the 100-watt FM station at Valley High School, actually in West Des Moines. Whenever I've been in Des Moines, I've found that it's tough to pick up KWDM downtown, even on the higher floors of a hotel.

Going to be interesting hearing español on 1150!
