2025 Baseball on the radio

Listening to both streams of the Angels-Dodgers exhibition game tonight (Mar. 23), and...

1) it's good to hear Charley Steiner back behind the 🎤 for the World Champions. The year-long layoff, combined with his health issues, have left him with some vocal rust. But here's wishing him good health throughout the season.

2) The Angels' team of Terry Smith and Mark Langston didn't make the trip to Dodger Stadium tonight, calling the game from the KLAA studios at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. If this continues, then 2025 would be the fifth straight season the Angels won't be sending their radio broadcasters on road trips. FWIW, the Angels play their first six regular-season games on the road (at the White Sox and St. Louis).

If the Angels want to continue to run a minor league outfit, why don't they just vacate the Big A, move to Temecula and let a team that wants to run a major league operation move to Anaheim?

Glad Charlie is back as well. He and Rick are audio gold! I wish Angels fans luck in finding the nearest dispensary closest to them in 2025

Newsman for morning man Jay Thomas. I think Jay did some acting on the side as well.
Indeed he did, but he is probably best remembered for all those pre-Christmas appearances on Letterman's show, with the footballs and the meatball on the tree and the Lone Ranger story. (Not to mention being Darlene Love's warm-up act.) 🤣

He'll always be Eddie LeBec from Cheers to me, the former NHL goalie and Carla's second husband who died after getting run over by a Zamboni.

I ran into Tommy Lasorda, Charley Steiner and several Dodger higher ups at Brent's Deli in Northridge in 2015. When I shook Charley's hand, I told him that I used to listen to him on 99X when he was Jay Thomas' newsman. He was greatly amused. He told me, "I've been doing play by play baseball since 2002 and you're the very first person since then who mentioned Jay Thomas and 99X." I remember Tommy asking, "So Charley you were a news guy before you did baseball?"
