Kudos To Cumulus

According to RadioInsight, they have launched a live overnight show that will run on all 47 of its Country stations. The article indicates that listeners will be encouraged to call in.
They claim it's the only live overnight Country show. But even if that's not correct, it seems to be a positive step to have such a program during late nights, in many markets.

The Overnight Ride

Were those previous shows done live?
I very much doubt that Kix stayed up all night hosting his show.
And as the years go by, there is less live radio.

If you're talking about Kix of Brooks & Dunn, why isn't he hosting the American Country Countdown anymore? This also goes for Terri Clark and Tracy Lawrence. They too used to do radio shows, but now other people are doing them. Were all three of them just ready to hang it up as a radio DJ?

God bless you and them always!!!

Despite that assertion I would assume it wouldn’t include the second station in markets where Cumulus has two Country formats, such as DFW and Amarillo.

Cumulus has three markets where they own two country stations: Dallas, Nashville, and Des Moines. In all three, they have one station as a currents station, and the other as a classic country. This show airs on the currents station, and originates at WKDF Nashville.

I'm not aware that Cumulus owns any stations in Amarillo.

Apparently Cumulus doesn't buy the Nielsen book in Amarillo.

KARX is the classic Nash Icon country station. This overnight show airs on KPUR-FM.
Amarillo has four Country FMs, the other two being KATP (Townsquare) and KGNC-FM (Alpha Media).

The market is arguably saturated with ~40 FM signals.

There’s also Third Shift With Brett Alan, airing overnights on Townsquare’s Country stations. I guess that’s also not live.

Kix was not live. Picklejar was.

iHeart has an overnight country show, but as far as I know, it's not live:

I often hear this show when I'm driving to work in the mornings in our timezone, it doesn't sound live. There are pre-recorded phone messages but no callers, it's not a particularly good show - it sounds like the airtime filler that it is.
