The AM dial is weird tonight

Location: Denver, CO - There must be solar activity. No KMOX, WHO, KFAB, WBBM, or other regulars. KRVN is much weaker than usual. Some of the Front Range nighttime signals that normally have a rough time here are a little better than usual. Thousand-watt KTBL in Albuquerque is stomping over Monterrey's XEG. KKOB and KCKN from New Mexico are steady with moderate strength. XEX from Mexico City is coming in, which doesn't happen all that often. Weird.

Tonight's solar activity is expected to be moderate, with a good chance of seeing auroras at northern latitudes. NOAA forecasts up to G3 (strong) geomagnetic storming, meaning a higher probability of auroras at northern latitudes. The disturbance is a result of a coronal mass ejection (CME) that triggered G2 (moderate) geomagnetic storming overnight.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Geomagnetic Storming: NOAA forecasts up to G3 (strong) storming tonight, and G1 (minor) storming is expected to persist through tomorrow evening.
