First book with KROI's new format.

Still on top of once The Great KLTN….
Again, have to look at the sales demos. Almost all Spanish language buys are 18-49 or a subset of that, not 25-54.

I don't see that lasting very long.
I don't either. The novelty of Raúl being back will wear off in a few months, and things will level off.

This is looking more like SBS's monumental failure in Orlando and Tampa.

Raul es mi Gallo! He will only get better! Willing to put some $$ by the end of the year it will be Shares of difference between Raul and the other Spanish stations.

Raúl is like Piolín, Humberto Luna and Renán "El Cucuy". There is a lifespan to that type of show.

Raul is not at the end yet. I had lunch with Humberto Luna in Vegas 2 weeks ago and saw cucuy last year both are not in touch with the current radio world but Brindis is very much still in this and open to change.

I completely respect and understand your admiration for Raúl... you clearly seem like a true fan. That said, if we step away from pure nostalgia for just a moment, the reality of today’s competitive landscape paints a different picture. While he’s managed to maintain his presence, the truth is the show hasn’t evolved, it’s the same recycled format, the same jokes, and the same style that might have been groundbreaking decades ago, but feels noticeably dated today.
At some point, even the most beloved talents become relics of a different era when innovation stops. Unfortunately, maintaining older demos will only carry you so far when agencies are chasing younger audiences and fresh engagement.
Sure, he’ll likely continue to do "well enough" with an aging audience... for now. But let’s be honest..longevity today requires more than simply being recognizable.
Truth be told, Raúl Brindis had already peaked long before Univision finally let him go. Right now, KROI feels like the "new toy" in the market, and people are curious, but curiosity wears off quickly. Give it a few more books, and Raúl will simply blend into the background as another aging name SBS gambled on.
Sustaining massive salaries, mounting debt, and appeasing restless investors is a lot harder than just signing a big name and hoping for the best. Reality always catches up ... and it’s only a matter of time.

Keep in mind that SBS has a major obstacle to overcome: its huge debt.

"SBS has $310 million in notes — at a 9.75% interest rate — set to mature on March 1, 2026. “We do not have sufficient cash on hand or generate sufficient funds from operations to repay the notes,” SBS acknowledges in the filing." ( With $310M In Debt Soon To Mature, SBS Seeks A Lifeline. ).

Add in the severe under-performance of their newer stations in Orlando and Tampa, plus the startup costs of the Houston station and they are, again, for the umpteenth time, walking at the crumbling edge of a precipice. In the past, they survived by playing the minority card or due to their extremely tight relationship with ex-Senator Menéndez, but those are not things they can depend on today.

Despite the long waiting game for the launch of La Ley 92.1, and the initial ratings splash it has made, does anyone nonetheless think that KROI could be a piece in a further ownership shuffle as part of possible consolidation? Another station for MediaCo here? Radio Nueva Vida?

The Houston, Orlando or Tampa stations or maybe even the Chicago station could be sold with SBS' financial situation:

Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if WRXD was sold. I'm shocked that SBS has sat on selling WRAZ for so long.

I've been saying that it would fall flat on its face before it even launched. SBS had no business buying 92.1 in the first place, given their finances. Pulling the minority card isn't going to work with the current state of affairs going on in Washington, and there's no way they can tread water for another 3 1/2 years.

If either MediaCo or KSBJ were suitors, 92.1 wouldn't have sat waiting to consummate all that time. More than likely it ends up in the collection of dead weight facilities owned by the church on Pasadena Blvd.

I think 92.1 will care its own weight so it won't be a factor, Sbs has always been able to find a lifeline at the end of the rope.

I’ll take it. Just need to win the lottery first. Any ticket now…
