WREO has been back in Ashtabula since COVID. The only programming that originated out of Mentor was Mark Allen in morning drive.Sounds like WREO would/should be headed back to Ashtabula... 🤔
It seems they like having the studio in Mentor and plan to keep it. It retains the Lake County presence for WQGR and add it for WKKY.Could WQGR move in with WKKY in Geneva?
That might be why Media One brought Scott Miller (former WDOK PD and morning host at WNCX and coincidentally enough, a former morning host at WKKY) aboard.Ted Alexander was also programming WREO. My guess is someone else will take over the station now. I heard there is a consultant for Media One Group in Ashtabula.
There's no real ability to move the signal anywhere closer to Cleveland...$750K may seem steep for a rimshot that doesn't reach that far across all of Cleveland but maybe they have plans for that.
At least maybe at last put 93.7 on 104.7's tower and improve the signal so that more of Geauga and Ashtabula counties can hear the station very well. Many of the Gold fans struggle to hear the station in Chardon.$750K may seem steep for a rimshot that doesn't reach that far across all of Cleveland but maybe they have plans for that. It was 60 years ago but Ted had a good run with the WELW rimshot.
WKKY does well in Lake and WQGR could add older listeners in an aging county.
WQGR was the FM channel both Lake AM stations lusted after 40 years ago but couldn't land.
Mix 97.1 was trying to be different than Cougar 93.7 when both stations were in the same building in Mentor. Once Cougar became Gold, Mix had to be both its old self and Cougar at the same time.I worked in Mentor from 2013-15 and the playlist on Mix 97.1 was pretty out there when they were listed as Hot AC. They’d play a mid-chart stiff from a couple years ago, a current from an Alternative/AAA group that had a Hot AC crossover years ago, an 80s song, then a Hot AC hit. I remember Lance posting a sample hour from when they went to “Lite Mix” and that playlist was pretty all over the place too.
Back in the day 2.5 to 3 times the annual billings was a fair price, unless there was a killer construction permit. With the declining revenue of the industry I venture the price is a multiple (4+ times?) or higher of the the positive cash flow.Talk about over paying .
That stream is playing just generic instrumental dance filler. I don't believe WZOO-FM has a stream at the current time.Magic 102.5, was longggg an oldies station, with a logo similar to WMJI's from the mid-90s.
However, it changed weeks ago. Now a HAC.
Media One should probably do a redesign on the site, logo, and the Facebook page. Maybe they were going to go into all Xmas, then emerge with the aforementioned?
