I got a hot tip this morning that Good Cheer can't lose! We're off to a great start this morning. At 6:30 a.m., they air a recorded newscast beginning with the words, "Good evening, it's 5:30, let's get an Oaks Race preview."
What other special events do they now try to cover? Are there events of local or regional interest that Louisville cares about more than Derby Day?In all due respect to the brave souls who are left there, maybe they should stop trying to do all the special events they used to do? They obviously no longer have the staff or resources to pull it off.
Reminds me of a few years ago as a tornado crashed through a market I was visiting, and the obviously tracked girl said "It's gonna be hot today, better put on sunscreen." Sure, I should do that, once I get this HOTEL roof off of me.We're off to a great start this morning. Sorry for randomly dropping in. But this is an example of what I’m talking about when I say radio cheapening its product even more is driving people to streaming and away from radio. Ok, back in my lane now!Reminds me of a few years ago as a tornado crashed through a market I was visiting, and the obviously tracked girl said "It's gonna be hot today, better put on sunscreen." Don’t they still do UK sports postgame shows with calls?I realized recently that WHAS doesn't have any local call in shows at all anymore. That's a shame.

[/QUOTEThat's not a local show. I was talking about talk shows like Joe Elliott or Jane Norris who would take calls on certain topics.Don’t they still do UK sports postgame shows with calls?
Well, Tony Cruise was a sports guy before becoming the morning host, and he lasted over 20 years in the job. So, there is precedent.BTW 840 WHAS announced that Nick Coffey is named the new morning show host.
