Connoisseur

Now that Connoisseur has merged with Alpha, what is the programming and sales philosophy of this company. Alpha blew out a bunch of people in preparation of the merger. Are they likely to staff up in some markets? They state that they believe in serving their communities and that's best done with a live and local staff.

Here's a lengthy interview with Warshaw. The philosophy will be whatever he wants it to be.

I'll believe it when I see it. That might well be Connoisseur's intention, but it will still be facing the same headwinds in those markets that Alpha was. If the money wasn't there, it won't suddenly appear just because someone new is operating. If some of the Alpha markets staff up after Connoisseur takes over, I wouldn't expect the headcounts to be as high as they were under Alpha before the layoffs.

When Connoisseur acquired WDRC-FM Hartford, its first moves were to let the entire air staff go (coinciding with a format flip from oldies to rock-oriented classic hits -- which soon morphed into straight-up classic rock) and replace the Hartford-based morning show with a simulcast of the morning show from WPLR New Haven.

Again, be sure to bring a large grain of salt with you whenever you read a corporate mission statement.

What are the chances that Chaz and AJ gets a bigger syndication.
