Streaming removals on places like Max...whats the point?

It seems like it's a trend recently to "downsize" streaming services. For example, Max has removed a lot of Discovery content and Adult Swim content, but then put it on Discovery Plus and their own free ad supported Adult Swim app (this doesn't make sense as they also own and operate both of those.) Is there a rhyme or reason why services like this do this?

It's about coming up with new ways to generate more revenue in the long term. Whether that's forcing you to take a higher level of service or pushing you watch on their ad-supported platforms. All to watch the same content you get today. Slowly erode the value of what exists and then upcharge you to get back what was lost...the old boiling frog analogy.

truth be told, these programs getting removed from streaming services are just like when syndicated programing leaves a local station or basic cable network, the rights to broadcast expire, and i think the show on these streaming service have their own syndication rights for streaming that has a x amount of time and them it expires and goes elsewhere,
