Time for 99.7 the Blitz to finally ditch Active Rock?

WRKZ seems to be going nowhere fast. They're easily the lowest-rated city-grade signal in the April PPM at a 3.4 share 6+. And the trend for NABCO's only big signal is not promising:

3.9 > 3.7 > 4.2 >3.8 > 3.3 >3.4

Meanwhile, while it's too early to tell for sure, it looks like NABCO's flipping class A 103.9 WJKR to Classic Hit Country may be paying off -- at least 6+ -- as its share jumped from 1.7 to 2.6 (less than a point below the Blitz!). Maybe they should consider moving Classic Hit Country to 99.7. Or bringing back Jack-FM, but this time on 99.7 instead of 103.9. AAA would be an intriguing option, but some of the challenges that might have locally were discussed in another thread.

Any other thoughts?

Probably depends on where there biggest Blitz-listening fanbase lives. If most of the rock audience is well-outside 270 (Which I kind of suspect), moving The Blitz off 99.7 could be a death sentence. I know 99.7 tried that switch to "The Rock" back in the late 2000s and it failed. Active Rock has been teasing a comeback as-of-late, with guitar music showing some chart resurgence. But hard to know whether that's a steady rebuild or just a blip on the radar.

I still think a AAA currents-meets-modern AC gold format in Columbus could do well on 94.1 as a means to for North American to build a currents-focused rock portfolio. If the AAA currents dry up in a year or two, it could spin back into some form of AC or Jack FM.

That's not a viable resource for format information. They simply take what is given to them from Nielsen but also fail to update changes. On RadioInsight's ratings page. @Huff and I go through to make sure (and we miss some small changes sometimes) every station listed is real-world accurate and not what Nielsen has along with notes of changes at the bottom...

I say keep calling it The Blitz, and morph it into a station similar to wmmr in Philadelphia. I know what works in Philadelphia may not work in Columbus, but it can't do any worse.

I say leave 99.7 pretty much the way it is. Are some refinements in order? Sure, but it is a reasonably strong brand with a sizable audience. An outright format change would upset a lot of longtime listeners, and I'm skeptical country would earn better numbers than hard rock.
