What’s the deal with hot 107.9? They’ve easily got the best presentation and production of any station in Atlanta. But they never seem to be in top 5

Once Hurricane Dave left, HOT started declining. Once upon a time, HOT was in the clubs and all around town but that went away.

I think they’re local from 2-7PM. Not sure about 7 to midnight.
Oh, wow - that is surprising. Could they get like a new logo to at least stand out from the other "Beats". At least keep the station somewhat creative and stand out from others. Like WGCI in Chicago has a somewhat neat logo. Even the Beat in Houston has different colors. I mean this is one of the largest Urban-demographics of markets.

Has anyone confirmed that WSB-FM is actually Hoat AC?

The fact that is doing better 18-34 than 25-54 would seem to confirm that. But ranking is not the same as total listeners.

The Breakfast Club is the #1 syndicated urban morning show. I don’t think it’s lame.
The show was on 105.3 which has excellent coverage of southwest Atlanta and they really didn't do that well. IMHO: Jubal not able to derail Burt got them on 96.1.

I would like to see the breakouts of the Morning Shows in Atlanta.

Top 4 ranking stations in both 25-54 and 18-49 are hip-hop or R&B focused. That's quite remarkable. It also suggests to me there is a possibility African Americans view FM radio more favorably than Caucasians.

The recent surge of 96.1 in key demos is equally as remarkable.

Google "Black Mecca" and you will not be surprised. Supposedly the black income in Atlanta is higher than he national average.

According to the Federal Reserve Bank St. Louis the average white household had an average wealth of $1.4 million, black households $311,000 and Hispanic households averaged $251,000 nationwide.

It is hard to get a real accurate estimate on the Black Entripurer's income level in the ATL because some of them move our of the traditionally black zip codes once they make a lot of coin. Last time I looked there were some pretty high income Zip codes in Southeast Atlanta. *

*I was studying the City of South Fulton area citizen's income for a client a couple of years ago. The area is growing so surveys 5 years ago can be inaccurate.

African Americans view FM radio more favorably than Caucasians.

What we're seeing is they have a more defined group of consensus songs that they like and radio plays.

They also like Charlamagne Tha God.

But there's similar behavior among white country music fans or white conservative talk fans.

Well, not really. What's causing the high shares among Urban properties is the Black audience is spread over far fewer stations than the Caucasian audience.

The African-American population comprises 36.7% of the Atlanta metro. The total P6+ share of the Urban stations is 31.3%.

I included WAMJ, WALR, WVEE, WRDG, WHTA and WPZE. I'm guessing Streetz 94.5 no longer subscribes to Nielsen so their audience would probably take the Urban share up several tenths of a point.

I don't have access to the market demos that you have, but on average, African-Americans tend to make up about 5% of most majority white formats such as talk, public, AC, and hot AC, plus about 10% of the CHR audience. So that could account for the difference.

My comment was more based on radio loyalty figures I see for African-Americans.
