Overcomer Ministry ending radio broadcasts

Per WRMI Facebook page: IMG_1461.jpeg
Alt: On Wavescan, beginning June 15: This is the News -- in Morse Code! KTWR Guam announces it's closing down. USAGM plans to reduce itself to 81 employees (18 for VOA). The Overcomer Ministry says it's ending its radio broadcasts. Bangladesh DX Report from Salahuddin Dolar.

Overcomer ending its shortwave broadcasts might be a fatal blow to several U.S. private SW broadcasters. However this is very sketchy info, needs serious confirmation.

that's WRMI's facebook page, Wavescan is hosted by Jeff White and that post was likely made by Jeff white

I read about it on a SW subreddit, which repeated the same post that was linked / pasted upthread.

If true, the ending of Overcomer Ministry from SW will cause the number of US SW stations to drop -- or hours of transmission will cut back drastically. WRMI may still survive, but for how long?

The USAGM cutbacks indicate VOA won't return to the air, OANN or no OANN.

TWR apparently will still broadcast to Asia, just using other transmitters, which they will rent time from.

Sheesh. I was just talking about it in the KTWR thread.
Good riddance. This will likely cause WWCR to turn off another transmitter, too.

All radio broadcasts, or just shortwave? I can't wait to not hear Brother Stair on 1170 WWVA.
True, but where is the confirmation directly from Overcomer? This is one of those “I’ll believe it when it happens” situations.
You could always ask them.

And they have their current international shortwave and domestic AM/FM radio bookings posted at https://overcomerministry.org/radio-schedule/, it appears.

According to WRMI’s Jeff White on the Wavescan program (via Glenn Hauser on his World of Radio forum) the Overcomer broadcasts on shortwave and local radio affiliates will end on June 30. Internet stream will continue, and there are supposedly plans for an LPFM at the group’s South Carolina home base.

Falling donations given as the reason for the end of the ministry’s radio output, making it unsustainable.

Major blow to several private shortwave operators, though they should have anticipated this since Stair’s death over four years ago.

They will just lease time to another client. Overcomers simply ponied up the cash to lease these stations and there will be another group that will follow. Because you lose a client, you don't turn in your license.

WEW was just recently (February 2025) granted a CP to upgrade from 1 kW daytime-only to 10 kW daytime/115W nighttime.
Theyve had that CP once, if not twice before and it went unbilt

Obviously, donations inside the ministry must be down, as they are in a lot of ministries, and other operations dependent on donation -- due to the economy and inflation.

But what piques my curiosity is why the replacement preacher (James Rice?) hasn't taken over with more preaching, carrying on the torch like Melissa Scott did after Gene Scott passed. If you have an actual message you believe is important, you'd try to continue getting it to the world, right? I've heard Rice's preaching maybe 5 times in the past 6 months or so. Just seems that after Stair died, the direction of the ministry (regardless of what one may think of the content) died with him.
