Medicine Hat loses CHAT-TV after 68 years

The former CBC affiliate and then-current City-TV affiliate, which never went to digital and was one of Canada's very few remaining analog stations, shuttered their station on Tuesday morning due to financial challenges. Staff were called to a meeting, and channel 6 turned off the lights shortly after.

This is a disaster for Canadian local news! Corporate bigwigs and the internet are destroying local stations in the Great White North.

Bell is the equivalent of the following in the US being under common ownership:
- iHeartRadio
- One of the Big Four TV networks
- Nexstar
- Discovery Networks
- ESPN
- DirecTV

Did Calgary's Citytv affiliate take CHAT's channel slot on local cable?

After Lloydminster's two stations (CTV and Citytv) shut down, I'm also wondering where Lloydminster cable is getting CTV and Citytv from now. Lloydminster is on the boundary between Alberta and Saskatchewan. I would almost assume Edmonton's affiliates took their cable slots, since Lloydminster has CBC and Global Edmonton in the low channels.
