ID a news sounder from WPEN?

I wondered if anyone could help me identify the name or origin of the news sounder that plays at 17:30 in this aircheck from WPEN's "Station of the Stars" days. They used it for decades. Of course, one can stay for the excellence of the late, great Joe Niagara while listening to the check. Thanks!

Hoo boy that takes me back to being a kid… in the mid/late 90’s! The owner of the luncheonette on the corner of the block I grew up on had WPEN on until they went sports, and that news sounder puts me right back in that store

It was when I heard it in an aircheck a few years ago that I had a similar reaction to writing college papers or sitting in the barbershop listening to the station. Amazing how little formatics like that stick with one.

The sounder I was asking about seems to be the ABC Entertainment network's sounder that took over from the original 1968 version, sometime around 1980. Would like to find a clear copy of it.

It is one of the ABC 1980s sounders. However, it sounds like it was washed through a synthesizer to make the tone lower. Here are some of the 1980s ABC sounders and you can tell they are of the same ilk.

Wow- I never knew the sounder World News Now (overnights on ABC) used to intro their "Morning Papers" segment (if I'm remembering correctly) was an actual ABC News Radio cut (heard at 1:20). I don't know if they still use it (or even still do the segment), I was watching around 2008-2010.

From the old ABC Entertainment Network, if I recall. I think they used a better version for network programs.

Bill
Yes, it was the ABC Entertainment Network sounder but it was a later version from around 1980. Seems to be elusive with respect to finding a clean version of it without being in an aircheck.

Thanks for the link; I am confident the version from WPEN was a late 70s/1980 recording of the 1968 version. Hard so far to find a clear version of it.
